This bronze depicts two Arabian horses, Tachiani the stallion and Nedjibe the mare. It was first exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1853 as 'Tachiani et Nedjibe, Chevaux Arabes' and it won a medal at the 1855 Exposition Universelle, renamed 'L’Accolade'. The bronze was cast in three sizes. It was extremely successful and Mêne went on to cast Tachiani and Nedjibe in individual models. (Source: Uno Langmann Limited, Vancouver)
