Shaqúelle Whyte's paintings combine an energetic use of colour with his own memories and experiences to give shape to imagined narratives unfolding before the viewer. He often utilises familiar contemporary, urban settings in the compositions of his paintings in which his figures are placed, resembling a film story board or comic strip. 'Kevin, you're' next highlights a sense of this with its presentation of two different visual perspectives on a street fight, suggesting the tensions underlying the horseplay that quickly turns into physical aggression between the young people across the two scenes.
