Hexagonal-shaped ornamental fountain, rising up from granite steps to a lower basin in red granite with square pillars at the six angles. A second basin emerges from the centre of the first and is supported by granite shafts with carved capitals. The sides of the basin have panels bearing the coats of arms of the City of Manchester and Duchy of Lancaster. Bronze dragon gargoyles discharge water into the lower basin. A smaller third basin sits on top of the middle basin and holds a bronze dolphin. The fountain was reinstalled 22 July 1997.
