At the centre of West Park is the Iron Circle, which references a fourth-century settlement discovered elsewhere on the site. It comprised of three sections of a circle, with phrases about Darlington cut into the steel. Inside the circle are six Catcastle sandstone slabs, with a hemispheric bowl in the centre made from Corten covered concrete. It shows a relief map locating the four main artworks. The four main compass points and surrounded by a multi-pointed circle. Prominent landmarks in the surrounding area are marked around the inside of the rim. The outer rim displays the words with 'Locomotiontown', 'Quakertown' and 'Darlingtown'.
