A figure of an airman dressed in helmet, collared pilot’s jacket and parachute. He is in high-relief and represented in a simplified and stylised manner. Behind him is an eagle whose wings extend to either side of the figure. The head of the eagle rests on the shoulder of the airman. The building originally belonged to Simmonds Aerocessories (a company which specialised in small component for aeronautics) until the factory closed in 1947. It was the international Headquarters of Smith Kline Beecham until it was converted to housing, as Wallis House, in 2013.
