A two-part sculpture carved and constructed from a single log of Brecks Oak. The taller piece is hollowed out and shaped to define a tapering vertical ripple. The wider piece suggests a figure, and is made from three interlocking elements, joined with steel pins. The inside spaces and spines are treated with an iron solution producing a red-oxide colour and matt finish, which contrasts with the waxed finish and fawn colour of the natural oak. The shape of the taller piece refers to a linear quality of the Brecks landscape where 'there is a sort of coming and going.' The shape of the wider piece was inspired by the form of a tapered moth that can be found on silver birch bark, in leaves, seeds and flakes of flint. The artist sees the form of the moth as linked both visually and conceptually to the human figure.
