A Greek Doric column surmounted statue of Hugh Miller raised on plinth dressed in cape and plaid with pile of books representing his works and geological specimen in right hand. There are laurel wreaths on three sides of plinth and representation of Miller's winged fish from the old red sandstone of Cromarty on the Fourth. It has a rusticated stone base with a marble tablet and cast-iron railings. The base is of old red sandstone from Shore quarry and rest of yellowish sandstone from Daviston quarry.
