Benno Schotz modelled this bust of the poet Hugh MacDiarmid live on an episode of BBC Scotland's arts programme 'Counterpoint', broadcast from 10.45pm to 11.10pm on 12th December 1958. As the show went live, one of the cameras malfunctioned and Dr Lindsay simply led the remaining camera across the studio to the sculptor and his model. The bust stood in the entrance hall of BBC Scotland's headquarters in Queen Margaret Drive.
