Philip Duthie is an artist whose work traverses the boundaries of landscape painting and abstraction. His paintings are an ongoing series exploring the natural environment in works that use simplified geometry and the physicality of paint to represent the intangible qualities of light reflecting on water or breaking through cloudy skies and to suggest the atmosphere of places visited.

Based in Edinburgh, Duthie was born in Aberdeen and trained at Gray's School of Art from 1975–1979. During 1989–1990 he was the recipient of The Scottish Arts Council's Amsterdam Studio Bursary and spent 12 months living and painting in The Netherlands. His work is featured in many private, public and corporate collections.
