The work features a polished granite plinth and obelisk on freestone ashlar base. The north face is inscribed 'To the memory of George Marsh, Martyr'. It is an Obelisk cenotaph, 1888–1898, erected at the expense of Nessie Brown, by Henry Stolterfoth, Mayor of Chester. It has a polished granite plinth and obelisk on a freestone ashlar base.
