Set on a stone plinth, this half-size bronze depicts General Jack Seely sitting astride 'Warrior', whose newspaper obituary read, 'the horse the Germans could not kill'. The statue is the centrepiece in the Princess Beatrice Garden at Carisbrooke Castle where it is on loan to English Heritage for the duration of the First World War centenary and accompanies the current Carisbrooke Castle Museum exhibition. The statue was derived by equine sculptor Philip Blacker from various paintings by Sir Alfred Munnings. The bronze is set upon a bronze plate made by fusing together scraps of metal and applying various dyes and chemicals. It is on this plate that sculptor Philip Blacker signed the work in 2015. The whole is then mounted on a rectangular marble plinth.
