The subject in the uniform of an Egyptian general seated on a tasselled saddle on a standing camel, upon a shallow inscribed rectangular plinth with olive branches on all sides, all upon a later inscribed pedestal with recessed corner piers, a moulded cornice and base, and resting on a three-stepped base.

inscribed on the front of the plinth: GORDON; on the front of the pedestal: CHARLES / GEORGE / GORDON; on the left side of the pedestal: THIS STATUE WAS ERECTED AT KHARTOUM / IN 1904. REMOVED AND PRESENTED TO / THE SCHOOL IN 1959; on the right side of the pedestal: BORN WOOLWICH 28TH JANUARY 1833 / KILLED KHARTOUM 26TH JANUARY 1885; on the base of the pedestal on the left side: THE PLINTH HAS BEEN PRESENTED IN MEMORY OF / MAJOR GENERAL SIR HUBERT J HUDDLESTON, GCMG., GBE., CB., DSO., MC., / WHO SERVED THE SUDAN FOR 23 YEARS AND WAS GOVERNOR-GENERAL 1940-47.; and on a metal plaque affixed to the back of the base of the pedestal: THIS STATUE WAS UNVEILED BY / HRH THE EARL OF WESSEX KG GCVO / ON 10TH OCTOBER 2014 / FOLLOWING ITS RESTORATION
