The work celebrates the industrial and environmental history of the site which was the main location for London manufacturing from the eleventh century until the late 1800s. It was also on the edge of the ancient Royal Hunting Forest of Essex. It is now part of the east London urban housing area. Over 100 children from the local school contributed to the design. Local ceramic artist Dee Honeybun trained with the artist and assisted.
