Folding fan, the leaf painted on the recto with the Fountain of Youth, a mythical spring famed for its restorative properties. On the left, a party of figures surge toward the waters to join others bathing. On the right, the mood is one of genteel, post-bathing flirtation. The verso is painted with a central medallion encircling three figures personifying the Arts and presenting a coat of arms combining the Napoleonic eagle and cauldron emblem of the Countship of Teba, one of several titles held by the fan's original owner, Eugenie, Empress of the French (1826–1904).

Unlike most fan makers, who mainly concerned themselves with orchestrating the activities of others and retailing the finished articles, Felix Alexandre was a gifted artist and designed component parts of some of the fans manufactured in his name.
