Three curling fronds representing a gush of water, rise out the ground in the same direction, lifting a three dimensional model of the nearby library, so that it is held upside down. Steve Joyce explains, 'The main inspiration for this two-part sculpture is the idea of a large underground reservoir of hidden and untapped knowledge and information that majestically bursts up through the ground, like a geyser or fire hydrant, and takes the diminutive library building with it'. Background reports indicate that S252 and S253 (Fountains of Knowledge) are conceptually one work although set 100 metres apart approximately along a passageway between shops and across a road.
