The 'Flock of Words' is a 300 metre long typographic pavement leading from the railway station towards the sea. Incorporated into the pavement are poems, quotations and sayings about birds with sources moving from Genesis to Shakespeare to Spike Milligan. The bird theme fits with the many bird sculptures elsewhere along the Morecambe seafront that celebrate the Bay’s ornithological richness. Some of the text is carved into the stone and some is metal type embedded into the surface. Many colours of stone, cement background and inlay are used and many typefaces and layouts. Near the seaward end of the pavement is the 'Genesis Tower (Noah and the Dove)'. This is a 9 metre high slender triangular steel tower surmounted by a dove sculpture.
