Grave cover depicting a female at prayer with a trefoiled head. The ratio of female to male burials in monastic sites during this period is very low compared to later periods, and there are very few female effigies from monastic sites generally (although plenty in parish churches). Although this effigy is not identified, it points to an important woman associated with Tynemouth in this period, possibly a patron.
