Cistercian ware head and torso of possibly a female figure. The whole figure is hand-moulded and coated in a thick yellow glaze. The head is rounded with the mouth depicted by a single lateral line, the nose missing, and both eyes depicted by annular discs of dark-brown clay applique. The brown-on-yellow is unusual for Cistercian ware which normally favours yellow-on-brown. She wears a simple head-dress (bonnet or cowl) with a fringed rim at the front, framing the face, of which only small sections survive. The reverse of the head dress is decorated with six further dots of brown glaze. She wears a cloak with an upturned collar with ties at the neck also depicted in the brown glaze. The base of the figure is broken across a concave plug of clay inside the figure.
