Elizabeth Eleanor Lloyd was the only child of Thomas Lloyd of Danyrallt. Her aunt was Bridget Vaughan, Madam Bevan. She married Sir Thomas Stepney, 7th Baronet of Prendergast. This is one a group of family portraits from Derwydd house, Carmarthenshire by the artist John Lewis. This is the only painting in the group to have been signed and dated. The artist has depicted a somewhat glum and tense young woman and indeed, Lady Stepney's adult life was to be an unhappy one.
