A painting of two girls seated under a tree holding primroses and bluebells, one of the little girls is proffering a bunch of primroses to a boy who is standing holding a hoop. Henry Le Jeune exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1840 to 1894, and in 1848 was appointed Curator of the Academy's Collections. He abandoned historical and religious subjects for more commercially viable subjects such as this.
