A fountain consisting of a column in pink granite with deep entablature and cornice, surmounted by a rounded apex finished at the corners with upright leaves of oxidised bronze, fitted with two semi-circular basins at the sides and mounted on a tiered base. A plain rectangular green marble panel is attached to each side of the main column. The fountain is dedicated to Princess Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck, who died in 1897. Originally the sides were fitted with bronze oval reliefs, one of which bore a portrait bust of the duchess, and the apex of the fountain was fitted with a pineapple.
