A Gothic style fountain and canopy, on an octagonal base of two stone steps. It has four fluted columns, four moulded cusped arches with ornamented spandrels and scrolled corners, a domed roof with griffons, ribs and coronet, and roundels in the centre of each side with a pelican emblem in shields. The fountain was a stock catalogue item with minor alterations, the standard version was illustrated on page 412 of the company’s brochure, volume 2, as 'MacFarlane’s Patent No. 8 Drinking Fountain', priced at £27 10s. Another example is at Astley Park, Chorley.
