A lead statue of Diana, the Roman goddess of the hunt, with a dog, possibly a greyhound, on a panelled Portland stone pedestal. Diana is naked apart from the drapery around her right leg, this leg is supported by a tree stump while her left foot rests on a small pedestal. Diana holds the dog's raised right paw in her right hand and has placed her left hand behind the dog's head. The statue is thought to be by Andrew Carpenter (c.1677–1737), a major manufacturer of lead garden statues who had a sculpture yard near Hyde Park in London. It was originally purchased for Wrest Park by Henry, Duke of Kent, (1671–1740), in the late 1720s. It is shown positioned within a niche in a hedge in an unfinished watercolour by Pieter Tillemans (1684–1734) dated to c.
