This picture was painted by Gerard H.T.Charme and / given by him about 1896-8 to Mr Carl Williams, who / was then living with him in Chelsea. The artist / was subsequently killed in the was at Salomika. / A plaque to his memory is on his old house Vale Cottage / Vale Avenue, Chelsea. / Two or three specimens of his work as one of the / outstanding contemporary artist in still life; / particularly flowers are to be seen in the South / Kensington Museum.
