Painting of two women making a felt rug: one is kneeling, dressed in red-brown clothing, laying out the pattern. This is of three swirling sun motifs inside circles with trefoils around; the inner border is of hooks (running dog motif); the outer border is of black, blue and white. The other woman is seated, dressed in a white turban and black cap, a blue-white long sleeved shirt and skirt, and a black waistcoat. She is preparing lengths of felt in browns, yellow, blue, white and green for the first woman to lay out. The felt lies on a yellow reed screen or mat. In the left foreground is a long-necked green ewer and a yellow and green bowl with thick walls. In the background is a multicoloured rug and a painted wooden chest covered with a pile of bedding, of red-pink and brown fabrics.
