The monument is made of a semi-circular stone seat and a base. Rising from the centre of the seat back is a stone column with, on the back and front, and identical bronze busts of Dame Louisa Aldrich Blake, holding a book, with inscribed tablets below giving details of her career. On the other two sides there is a bronze serpent wrapped around a staff.
