Edith Evans was a British actress known for her work on the stage. She also appeared in a number of films, winning a BAFTA, a Golden Globe and three Academy Award nominations. She was particularly well known for portraying haughty aristocratic ladies such as Lady Bracknell in Oscar Wilde's 'The Importance of Being Earnest'.
