Dame Caroline Haslett (1895–1957) was an electrical engineer, the first Secretary of the Women's Engineering Society in 1919, the editor of 'Woman Engineer' and founder and Director of the Electrical Association for Women (1924–1956). She was the first woman to hold office both as a council member and as a Vice-President at the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA). This portrait by Sir Gerald Kelly (1879–1972), painter and President of the Royal Academy, has been on loan from the RSA to the National Portrait Gallery since 1998.
