Length 1608 feet. 304 feet Broad. Centre Transept 120 feet span. & 192 feet high: those of the side Transepts 124 feet high & 72 feet high'. The new 'People's Palace' was served by two railway stations – a high-level station near the Grand Avenue owned by the London, Chatham and Dover Railway, and a low-level station in front of the building owned by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway.
