A Mediterranean coastal scene with shipping in a calm sea.

This painting is from the 7th Earl of Mountrath’s collection. Lord Mountrath collected it when – as Viscount Coote, before succeeding to the family earldom – he was in Rome, during his Grand Tour (1744–1745). He died at Weston in 1802 and left all his estate and belongings to the 2nd Baron Bradford, later the 1st Earl of Bradford.
