The artist says about this painting: 'This series of paintings takes the accepted and dominant idiom of the Lake District and Cumbria as a pastoral idyll, as immortalised by the work of Constable in art and Wordsworth, et al., in literature and turns it on its head. I reject the dominance of the pastoral and seek to represent the urban landscape of cities and towns in and around the Lake District. The paintings feature the red sandstone rock and the blue of the Lakes, in an abstract way. Rectangular block outlines represent the built rather than the natural environment.'
