This frieze runs continuously across the facade of both chambers forming a balustrade in front of the windows. Creswick was responsible for all of the terracotta dressings, which contrast with the red brick elevation. They include two city coats of arms, quoined window arch surrounds and a stringcourse, wittily modelled as a length of rope and held at either end by two putti. The reliefs are framed by elaborately attenuated and volute scrollwork. The subject matter of the frieze reliefs refers to A.R. Dean, well-known house furnishers, and Pitman's Birmingham Vegetarian Hotel and Restaurant, which originally occupied these premises. The scenes show carpenters at work and diners being served at table.
