Captain Blatch took part in Operation Market Garden with the 1st Airborne Brigade Sig. Sqn. Landing at Arnhem on Saturday 17th September 1944. He was the most senior of 27 Royal Signals personnel who died during the ill-fated operation. His action is commemorated at the Groesbeek Memorial, Netherlands. This is a posthumous portrait.
