A life-size figure of a sea captain with beard, peaked cap, short jacket, rubber boots, holding onto a piece of rope with a bell attached to end and looking out over water. Captain Cat is a character from the radio drama, 'Under Milk Wood' (1954) by Dylan Thomas. The old blind sea captain who dreams of his deceased shipmates and lost lover Rosie Probert. He is one of the play's most important characters, as he often acts as a narrator. He observes and comments on the goings-on in the village from his window, who gazes out towards 'the clippered seas he sailed long ago when his eyes were blue and bright'.
