Jeremy Moon originally studied law at Cambridge University but in 1960, after seeing the Royal Society of British Artists' 'Situation' exhibition, he was inspired to enrol at the Central School of Art and Design. Moon adopted a hard-edged, abstract style, much influenced by the North American 'colour-field' painters who explored the relationships between areas of colour and the structure of the flat surface. His work was shown in many group exhibitions of young British artists in the 1960s as well as in several solo shows. Following his death in a motorcycling accident in 1973, the Arts Council mounted a travelling exhibition of his work. He is represented in many public collections including the Tate Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Council.
