A sculpted bronze figure of James, Earl of Angus, in seventeenth century dress. He stands with his right arm outstretched pointing towards the surrounding hills where he was able to raise so many loyal men. His left hand grasps his sword with his left foot slightly forward. He was the first Colonel of the Cameronian Regiment which was raised at Douglas in 1689. The statue was erected to mark the bicentenary of the raising of the regiment. This stands on an ashlar plinth, with inscriptions on three faces, on a stepped, bull-faced ashlar base. The Cameronian badge is on east face of plinth. The whole is enclosed by spearhead iron railings.
