Inscription description

inscribed on a diamond-shaped plaque set into the paved ground surrounding the sculpture: The mountains, / lakes and valleys of / Wales have inspired this / sculpture, and in particular Cader / Idris, in Snowdonia. / Naturally, many Welsh poets have found / similar inspiration and it is those verses which reflect / this subject that have been chosen here. All of them are by / Welsh poets and in their original language, be it Welsh or English. / The englyn is a unique verse form characterised by the particular setting / of the lines. Four englynion are included in this selection, and the one by / Rhys Dafis was specially composed for the sculpture. / Mynyddoedd, llynnoedd a chymoedd Cymru sydd wedi ysbrydoli'r cerflun hwn, yn / enwedig Cader Idris, yn Eryri. / Yn naturiol, cafodd llawer o feirdd Cymru eu hysbrydoli yn un modd, a / cherddi sy'n adlewyrchu'r pwnc hwn a ddewiswyd yma. Maent oll gan / feirdd Cymreig ac maent yn yr iaith wreiddiol, boed Gymraeg neu / Saesneg. Mae'r englyn yn ffurf gynganeddol unigryw gyda / phatrwm neilltuol ir llinellau. Cynhwysir pedwar / englyn yn y detholiad hwn, a chyfansoddwyd / yr un gan Rhys Dafis yn arbennig ar / gyfer y cerflun. / William Pye
