The Hindu deities depicted in the central roundel conform to leading characters in the Ramayana (in its Burmese version (Yamayana)) epic: Rama (an avatar of Vishnu) in the center and his brother Lakshmana at left, both holding a bow in their left arm or hand, and Rama's consort Sita at right. It is common to depict the three figures (and often a fourth figure, the monkey god Hanuman) as a group.
