The City Hall encapsulates the Victorian love of thirteenth century gothic style, with clock tower in the form of Tuscan campanile. The building has no less than 35 seven-foot-high carved sculptural figures of British monarchs. Each figure highly detailed carvings follow their chronological order in history, beginning with William I and ending with Henry VIII. The two Queens, Elizabeth I and Victoria take pride of place on either side of the main entrance. However, there is one anomaly, Oliver Cromwell is included with the monarchs.
