An obelisk on a puddling stone pyramidal base. A separate mound near by is a memorial to General de Villebois Mareuil's horse.

SOUTH AFRICA / IN HONOUR OF THOSE MEN WHO / SERVED IN THE WAR 1899-1902 / CHESHAM / (names) / FLAUNDEN / (names) / CHENIES / (names) / AMERSHAM/ (names) / SARRATT/ (names); adjacent to obelisk is a small stone mound, marking the grave of a horse, set several metres apart from the obelisk monument it has a plaque on both sides; one side reads: THE HORSE RIDDEN BY / GENERAL DE VILLEBOIS MAREUIL / AT THE BATTLE OF BOSHOF SOUTH AFRICA / 5TH APRIL 1900 IN WHICH THE GENERAL WAS / KILLED AND THE HORSE WOUNDED; the other side reads: VILLEBOIS / BROUGHT TO ENGLAND BY / MAJOR GENERAL LORD CHESHAM KCB / IN 1900 DIED 15TH FEBRUARY 1911
