on the bronze plaque: PRESENTED TO THE / CORPORATION OF GLASGOW / BY FRANCIS HENDERSON ESQ. / LORD DEAN OF GUILD OF THE CITY / IN THE YEARS 1910–1912 / TO MARK THE SITE OF THE BISHOP'S PALACE / WHICH WAS BUILT IN THE THIRTEENTH CENTURY / AND WAS FINALLY REMOVED IN 1792.
