Semi-abstract landscape with birds in winter trees by a road; foreground, the twigs and branches of small trees some of which retain green and red leaves; middleground, a country land bordered on one side by a stone wall; background, a hill and a flock of birds (crows / rooks?) on tree tops. Underpainting with areas of dry brushwork with palette knife used for the sky. Trees are drawn on top in pen and ink with additional scraping (by nib or end of brush?) and leaf highlights in gouache?
