Anne Blathwayt was the daughter of William Blathwayt I (1649?–1717) and his wife Mary Wynter (1650–1691). Her father was responsible for transforming Dyrham Park, which he had inherited through his wife. Anne married the politician and government official Edward Southwell of King’s Weston (1671–1730) in 1716, but died after only a year of marriage.
