A pretty woman dressed in a strapless evening gown with a wide crinoline stands in the foreground at the centre of the image. She is surrounded by men offering her their hearts. To the right, two boys carry a basket full of hearts towards her. The boy with his back turned to the viewer has wings. More hearts are being delivered by other men nearing from the back. A horse cart inscribed with \'Parcels Delivery\' and loaded with more hearts is visible in the background on the left. A man holds on to the back of the cart, the driver sits at the front. In the background to the right, a steam train with wagons loaded full with hearts. The scene is framed at the top with an arch from which hearts are suspended. In each corner, a boy is in the process of fixing more hearts to the arch, with more hearts queuing behind him.
