A portrait of the poet Alfred Tennyson (1809–1892) as a young man; the replica of a marble bust at Trinity College, Cambridge. Woolner also sculpted a medallion portrait of Tennyson in 1856 and a second bust in 1873.

Tennyson lived the last 25 years of his life at Aldworth House in Haslemere.
