Stephen Conroy is an acclaimed British artist whose work is in public and private galleries worldwide. His art is one of the highly aesthetic figure-painting that pioneers new directions in psychological expression, most particularly in individual and group portraits. His work reconciles models in Italian Baroque art with precursors in 20th-century art, such as the painting of Francis Bacon. It thus has palpable roots in tradition while at the same time taking its spontaneous bearings wholly from the present day.
