
Artist-photographer, born and worked in London, who was interested in the scrutiny of institutions and their inhabitants, sometimes lending them a surreal quality. She graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art, 1982–6; attended Hochschule der Kunst, Berlin, 1984–5; then gained her master’s degree at Goldsmiths’ College, 1989–90. Group shows included New Contemporaries, ICA, 1984; Madonnas, Diorama Gallery, 1990; Exhibit A, Serpentine Gallery, 1992; and Mélange d’Août, Laure Genillard Gallery, 1995. Had a solo show at Tavistock Clinic, 1991, others including Spectators, Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth, 1995, The New Art Gallery, Walsall, 2000, Jerwood Gallery, 2001 (the year she represented Britain at the Indian Triennale, in Delhi), and Asprey Jacques, 2002 and 2005.
