Painter, muralist and teacher, born at Beer Alston, near Tavistock, Devon, who studied at Armstrong College, Durham University; and Royal College of Art. In 1934 Willis was asked to paint a lunette on the theme Barge Day for Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne. He eventually became vice-principal of Hornsey School of Art, where he exhibited, also at RA and as a member of RBA. Willis settled in Paignton, Devon, where in 1951 he founded the Art and Crafts Society, becoming chairman and eventually president. He was also president of Torbay Art Club. Painted a picture of Calstock Viaduct for Tor Abbey.
