Painter, born in Liverpool, who studied at Slade School of Fine Art, 1976–80. From the mid-1970s he won a number of awards, including the Boise Travelling Scholarship and Robert Ross Scholarship, in 1980; Minor Prize at John Moores Exhibition, Liverpool, 1982–3; and third prize at Royal National Eisteddfod, 1985. He gained a Stewart Powell Bowen Fellowship (artist-in-residence at Mostyn Art Gallery, Llandudno, 1983), then in 1985 was artist-in-residence at South Hill Park Art Centre & Wilde Theatre, Bracknell. Took part in many mixed shows, notably in Wales. Had solo shows at Andrew Knight Gallery in Cardiff and Wrexham Arts Centre in 1984; later ones included Lanchester Polytechnic Gallery, Coventry, and Benjamin Rhodes Gallery, 1986; Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea, 1996; and Newport Museum and Art Gallery in 2002.
