Painter and administrator, born in Barry, Glamorgan. He studied art and art history at Edinburgh University and Edinburgh College of Art, 1972–7. From 1979–80 Williams supervised the Karolyi Foundation at Vence, in the south of France, and in 1984 he worked in New York. Williams soon established himself as an exhibitor in Britain and abroad and had several shows at 369 Gallery, Edinburgh. In both landscape and in paintings of the figure Williams’ work was notable for its sensuous, lush and colourful qualities.
